What To Know

  • Microsoft envisions the rise of “Frontier Firms” as central to the future of business—teams of humans and AI agents working together, capable of scaling faster and innovating with unprecedented agility.
  • “As a leader in both generative AI and agentic AI, Microsoft is committed to supporting businesses in their AI journeys,” said Cynthia Yeo, Acting Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore.

AI News: New Accelerator to Transform 300 Local Firms into AI Powerhouses

Singapore is making bold moves to future-proof its economy with the launch of the Agentic AI Accelerator, a landmark initiative unveiled by Microsoft and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG). As part of the government’s Enterprise Compute Initiative (ECI), the program aims to empower 300 Singapore-based enterprises to adopt cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies and transform into “Frontier Firms”—agile organizations run by collaborative human-AI teams.

Over the next year, eligible companies will gain access to up to S$250,000 in Microsoft Azure cloud credits, tools, and AI training. Select firms may also qualify for up to S$700,000 in added Microsoft services for co-developing advanced agentic AI roadmaps with its technology partners. Additionally, the Singapore Government is offering capped consultancy support of S$105,000 per enterprise to help companies establish their own AI Centers of Excellence. This AI News report highlights a significant shift in Singapore’s strategy toward embedding intelligent systems at the core of its digital economy.

The Rise of Frontier Firms and Agentic AI

Microsoft envisions the rise of “Frontier Firms” as central to the future of business—teams of humans and AI agents working together, capable of scaling faster and innovating with unprecedented agility. A recent Work Trend Index by Microsoft found that 82% of Singapore’s business leaders are already planning to deploy AI agents to increase workforce capacity in the next 12 to 18 months.

“As a leader in both generative AI and agentic AI, Microsoft is committed to supporting businesses in their AI journeys,” said Cynthia Yeo, Acting Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore. “Our new Agentic AI Accelerator, in partnership with DISG, will be a game-changer in building organizations that move with speed and intelligence.”

The program dovetails with Microsoft Singapore’s broader AI Pinnacle Program, which has already driven co-innovation across sectors from aviation to healthcare. The recently opened Microsoft Research Asia – Singapore lab will also offer participants opportunities for deep collaboration with top scientists through workshops and advanced training.

Government Support and Industry Backing

Guest-of-honour Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and Culture, Community and Youth, emphasized the importance of equipping enterprises with cutting-edge tools to remain globally competitive. Philbert Gomez, Executive Director of DISG, added, “We are excited to partner with Microsoft, a global leader in AI, to give local enterprises access to tools and training that will fuel innovation and resilience.”

Prominent companies have already pledged their support. NCS Chief Scientist Ying Shao Wei described agentic AI as enabling “trusted, hyperlocal AI solutions” with real-world impact. In the legal sector, Rajah & Tann’s Rajesh Sreenivasan praised Microsoft’s ability to deliver secure, integrated enterprise solutions that balance innovation with regulatory compliance.

What the Agentic AI Accelerator Offers

-Up to S$150,000 in Azure cloud credits and S$100,000 in AI tools and training per business

-Up to S$700,000 in Microsoft co-investment services to build custom AI roadmaps

-Collaboration with Microsoft-approved technology partners for tailored solutions

-Access to cutting-edge platforms like Copilot Studio and Microsoft Azure

-Opportunities for deep research, co-innovation, and AI-focused workshops

These offerings are designed to help businesses scale operations, drive productivity, and enhance customer experiences using the power of AI.

The Agentic AI Accelerator underscores Singapore’s national ambition to lead Asia in AI readiness. By aligning private sector innovation with public sector vision, this initiative could very well make Singapore the AI capital of the region.

With a clear focus on long-term impact, this joint effort by Microsoft and DISG demonstrates how targeted investments in AI transformation can unlock new growth frontiers for hundreds of companies. By blending technological leadership with government-backed infrastructure, the country is laying down the blueprint for a future powered by intelligent, human-AI collaboration.
