What To Know

  • The initiative, overseen by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, is designed to put sophisticated AI technology within reach of students, workers, civil servants, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens, including people with little previous AI experience.
  • Rather than requiring separate subscriptions to numerous services, this Thailand AI News report highlights how AiPASS brings tools from more than 14 AI developers together on one platform, potentially lowering one of the biggest barriers to widespread AI adoption.

Thailand has opened pre-registration for its ambitious TH-AI Passport, giving millions of Thai citizens a new route to access more than 30 artificial intelligence models through a single government-backed platform. Registration began on August 19, 2026, with the AiPASS platform scheduled to officially launch on August 31. The programme has five million registration slots and is open to Thai nationals aged 15 and above.

The initiative, overseen by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, is designed to put sophisticated AI technology within reach of students, workers, civil servants, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens, including people with little previous AI experience. Rather than requiring separate subscriptions to numerous services, this Thailand AI News report highlights how AiPASS brings tools from more than 14 AI developers together on one platform, potentially lowering one of the biggest barriers to widespread AI adoption: access.

More Than 30 AI Models Under One Roof

AiPASS is expected to offer more than 30 models, with the programme listing technologies including GPT 5.6, Claude Opus 5, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Grok 4.3, Sonar Deep Research, GPT Image 2, Nano Banana Pro, Seedance 2.0, Lyria 3 Pro and Thailand’s Pathumma LLM. Users will be able to select different models depending on the task they want to perform.

Thailand’s own AI development also has a prominent role. AiPASS will use models developed under the ThaiLLM project, including Pathumma LLM, which is installed and operated inside Thailand on infrastructure powered by NVIDIA technology. The intention is to give users access to Thai-language AI capable of understanding local language and context more effectively.

AI Training Goes Beyond Free Access

The programme is not limited to providing AI models. Under its Learn • Earn • Plern concept, AiPASS will feature more than 96 AI courses, with learning opportunities involving global partners including Google for Education, Microsoft Elevate and OpenAI. Courses will range from introductory material to advanced skills, with participants able to earn certificates and accumulate points that can unlock Pro-level models and help them progress towards Innovator status.

NVIDIA is also expected to introduce additional courses and provide Thai developers with opportunities to access training from the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute. The wider objective is to improve AI literacy, increase workforce productivity, narrow the technology gap and strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness as AI becomes increasingly important across education, employment and business.

Who Can Register for TH-AI Passport?

Applicants must be Thai nationals and at least 15 years old when registering. They need a Google, Microsoft or Apple account and must complete identity verification through a government application or ThaID. Registration must be completed personally, and users should access the website through a normal browser window because private or incognito browsing is not supported.

Those registering before November 30, 2026, can receive an upgrade to Creator status under the programme’s conditions. The project registration period runs until August 31, 2027, although the five-million-user limit means available places remain a key consideration.

Government Links Spending to Active AI Use

A notable feature is its Pay Per Active User approach. The government says payments will apply to Innovator-level users who actively use the service according to programme conditions, at 24.70 baht per person per month. The mechanism is intended to align public spending with actual usage rather than simply paying for inactive accounts.

Privacy will also deserve attention. AiPASS can collect personal and usage information, including identity details, device information, login history, AI conversations and uploaded files. Conversation data may be processed by overseas AI providers, while users are advised not to submit sensitive personal information through chats or attachments.

The scale of TH-AI Passport makes it one of Thailand’s most significant attempts to take AI beyond specialist technology circles and place powerful tools directly in citizens’ hands. Its long-term impact will depend on participation, practical skills development, responsible data handling and whether users can turn access into measurable benefits in classrooms, workplaces and businesses. With five million places available, the programme could become an important test of how quickly mass-market AI adoption can reshape Thailand’s digital economy.
