The initiative seeks to transform digital education across the country by combining online learning, hands-on training, and innovation competitions into a single national platform. Officials say the program is designed not only to teach coding but to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among Thailand’s next generation of digital professionals. This Thailand AI News report reflects a growing national effort to strengthen the country’s technological workforce and prepare young people for the rapidly evolving digital economy.
National Program to Build Future AI Talent
The official launch took place at the SiamScape Building in Siam Square, Bangkok, where government officials, technology experts, educators, and students gathered to witness the unveiling of the project. The announcement was delivered by Dr. Warin Ratchananusorn, Acting Deputy Director-General of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, alongside senior representatives from government agencies, private sector partners, and educational institutions.
Dr. Warin explained that Coding Thailand 2026 builds upon the success of the original Coding Thailand program launched in 2018. Over the past several years, the earlier initiative helped introduce thousands of young learners to digital technologies and coding education. The new 2026 phase aims to expand the program’s reach while incorporating more advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things).
The expanded program will focus on students from primary, secondary, and vocational schools nationwide. In addition to traditional coding education, participants will receive exposure to entrepreneurship, innovation development, and soft skills that are increasingly required in modern digital industries.
According to DEPA, the program aims to engage at least 15,000 young people and interested learners through online digital learning platforms. In addition, 3,200 students and teachers will participate in intensive training workshops and regional competitions held across multiple provinces.

Scholarships and Funding Exceeding 27 Million Baht
A major highlight of the initiative is the substantial funding available to participants. Coding Thailand 2026 offers scholarships and innovation funding totaling more than 27 million baht, which will be awarded to outstanding student teams and projects throughout the program.
The funding is designed not only to reward competition winners but also to support the development of digital learning centers in schools and communities. These centers will serve as long-term hubs where students can continue building technological skills and exploring innovation even after the program concludes.
By investing in both talent development and educational infrastructure, DEPA hopes to strengthen the foundations of Thailand’s digital ecosystem while expanding opportunities for students nationwide.
Multi Stage Learning and Innovation Development
Coding Thailand 2026 features a comprehensive learning pathway that allows participants to progress from basic digital skills to advanced innovation development.
The first stage, known as Coding and AI Preparation, provides access to more than twenty online courses designed to introduce participants to coding fundamentals and artificial intelligence concepts. These courses are accessible not only to registered competitors but also to members of the public who wish to develop digital skills independently.
The next stage involves regional Coding and AI competitions, where participants will take part in immersive three-day training workshops. These sessions will be hosted in eight provinces across Thailand including Bangkok, Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok, Chiang Mai, Chonburi, Songkhla, and Phuket.
During the workshops, teams will collaborate to design innovative solutions using coding and AI technologies. The most promising projects will advance to the next phase of the program.
Selected teams will then enter a Coding and AI incubation program, where their ideas will be further developed under the guidance of experienced mentors. Experts from universities and leading technology companies will help students refine their innovations and prepare them for national competition.
The initiative will culminate in the National Coding and AI Competition, where the top 210 innovation teams will present their digital projects. These teams will compete for scholarships, funding support, and national recognition for their technological innovations.

Innovation Themes Shaping Student Projects
The program encourages participants to develop projects aligned with four key innovation themes that reflect Thailand’s broader economic and social priorities.
The first theme, Smart Industry, focuses on applying digital technologies to improve industrial productivity and efficiency. The second theme, Green Innovation, promotes environmentally sustainable solutions that reduce ecological impact.
Another important theme is Health and Well-Being, which encourages students to design technologies that enhance healthcare and improve quality of life. The final theme, Creative Economy, highlights the role of digital creativity in generating economic and social value.
Through these innovation pillars, the program aims to inspire students to develop solutions that address real-world challenges while contributing to national development.
Building Thailand Digital Workforce of the Future
DEPA officials emphasize that Coding Thailand 2026 is about cultivating a generation of thinkers and innovators capable of shaping the country’s digital future. While coding skills remain central to the initiative, the broader goal is to foster analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities among young participants.
Thailand continues to face a growing shortage of skilled digital professionals, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, and advanced software development. By introducing students to these technologies early, the initiative aims to build a stronger pipeline of talent capable of supporting the country’s long-term technological growth.
At the same time, the program places strong emphasis on improving the capabilities of teachers and strengthening technological infrastructure in schools. By upgrading both educators and educational environments, DEPA hopes to create a sustainable ecosystem that can support digital learning for many years to come.
The Coding Thailand 2026 initiative represents a major national investment in youth innovation and technological advancement. By empowering students to explore coding, artificial intelligence, and digital creativity, the program aims to position Thailand as a leading force in the regional digital economy while preparing young people for the careers and industries of the future.
Students from primary, secondary, and vocational institutions nationwide can apply to participate in the program until April 26, 2026 through the official Coding Thailand platform.
